A town of medieval origins, Pietrasanta is the preeminent artistic marble processing area and the historic capital of Versilia. It can be reached in less than a one-hour drive from Villa Il Cerretino. This magical place is suspended between the sea and the Apuan Alps with many marble processing facilities and endless open-air exhibitions. Those who visit the town seems to inevitably fall in love, especially artists.
It should be remembered that Fernando Botero and Igor Mitoraj chose it as a place to settle. It is a small town but the cathedral seems like that of a much larger city and is set in a unique square with the Apuan Alps in the background. In this square, temporary exhibitions of statues and outdoor works of art are organized throughout the year. The historic Via Francigena pilgrims’ route even crosses through the town, arriving from Massa and Camaiore. This eclectic town is sure to surprise you with its art to enjoy in the open air, artisan workshops, galleries exhibiting both ancient and modern works, wine bars and shops.
