Florence is the symbol of the Renaissance, the heart of Tuscany and undoubtedly one of the most beloved cities in Italy and the world. The cityscape can be admired from the terraces of Villa Il Cerretino and the Duomo, with Brunelleschi’s iconic dome, next to Giotto’s Bell Tower can be admired from the rooms of our villa. With a keen eye, on clear days, you can also see the profile of Palazzo Vecchio in Piazza della Signoria, the center of the political power of the city going back to the time of the Medici’s.
It takes less than half an hour to arrive to the city by car. Florence is a sort of open-air museum often compared in literature to an elegant woman. You could fill weeks and even months and never see all the amazing art and architecture in the city. On a day trip you can certainly aim to visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s David, a marble sculpture admired by millions of tourists every year. Don’t miss a visit to one of the most important museums in the world, the Uffizi Gallery, to see Botticelli’s “Venus” and Leonardo da Vinci’s “Annunciation”. Explore the winding streets, markets full of goods and stunning churches and of course walk over the famous Ponte Vecchio, with its gold market, to Palazzo Pitti and on up to Piazzale Michelangelo for a stunning view over the entire city and the Arno River. After a day of exploration, you can return to Villa Il Cerretino for rest and relaxation.
